Andy Kongsakul, O.D

Dr. Andy Kongsakul was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, where he now lives and conducts his professional practice. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine and his Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry in New York City. He received clinical training at the VA Health Harbor Systems in Brooklyn and at the Pediatric Department of the University Optometric Center in Manhattan.

Dr. Kongsakul served as an attending optometrist at the Department of Ophthalmology, Beth Israel Medical Center located in New York City. After relocating back to California, he founded Valley Optometry Eyecare Center in Reseda. Soon after, Dr. K. added a branch practice, El Portal Optometry, located in the heart of the NoHo Arts District and adjacent to the historic El Portal Theater.

He holds California and New York state certifications for therapeutic pharmaceutical agents and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease, such as glaucoma, eye infections, dry eye syndrome, and ocular allergies. Dr. K. also speaks Spanish and Thai.

Professional affiliations include American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association, San Fernando Valley Optometric Society, Vision Source!, and Asian American Optometric Society.

Dr. Kongsakul is passionate about community service and helps run a volunteer eye clinic at the LACHC servicing the homeless living in skidrow. He is also a Unite for Site volunteer who recently traveled to Africa in order to provide eye care to underserved people living in remote villages of Ghana. During his spare time, Dr. K. enjoys indulging in food of all cultures, listening to & playing music, traveling, and snowboarding.
